8 Months!

We just took a family trip to Nauvoo, and I am in LOVE with this picture Aaron snapped at the visitor's center of me and Peter! I am trying so hard to teach this little man of this Great Man- Jesus.
Life with a teething baby is EXHAUSTING!  I find myself randomly dozing off because he wakes up all through the night. Gone are the glorious nights when he used to sleep all night.  But all of these crazy night hours have led to 4 teeth! Two top and two bottom!

He met Grandma King for the first time! He has a bit of stranger anxiety...Can you tell?

He was also really tired, so we can blame his crankiness on that. And he just got a shot on this day. It was a tough day to be a baby!

Peter has started crawling, and my simple life with a baby will never be quite so simple again.  He is obsessed- I mean obsessed- with cat food.  Every time I put this child near the kitchen, he crawls just as fast as his little arms and legs will carry him and goes straight for the cat food. Sometimes I catch him before he knocks it over, and sometimes (like this time pictured) I don't!

We got to play in our creek! He actually LOVED it, and for the first time he splashed and laughed. He has never done that during bath time.

Grandma King brought a HUGE family history chart for Peter. It gives his genealogy wayyyyy back! And she wrote it all by hand! What a precious gift!

Another thing that Peter is crazy about, other than cat food, is wheels. He loves the wheels on the cooler!

But even babies who love wheels need to stop every now and then and do some baby yoga.

Anytime Peter is upset or fussy- just hand him a spoon.  I have no idea why we have wasted money on any toys. If I hold up a toy in one hand and a spoon in the other, he will choose the spoon every time.

Peter with Uncle Adam!

Peter watching the horses being groomed. Someday he will be big enough to help! He already loves to pet them.

Adam is a piano prodigy. He has been filling our home with beautiful music since he came, and he has been teaching Peter :)

This was the first time I saw Peter pull himself up. He crawled over to the bucket, reached up, and pulled himself up. I, of course, am standing right beside to make sure he is steady and doesn't take a dive.

I think he knows he is not supposed to have anymore food for awhile, because he looks like he is trying to sneak the watermelon...but since I handed it to him, he doesn't need to try to hide the watermelon from me.

Again, he pulled himself up using Dad's hands.

Lazy, beautiful Sunday afternoons.

We took a family trip to Nauvoo. Going to the temple was exactly what I needed to recharge my spiritual batteries.

On the way back from Nauvoo Peter was crying and screaming, and then crying some more. Aaron was starting to get a migraine so we pulled over on the side of the road, pulled Peter out of his car seat, and he reached for the steering wheel and instantly he stopped crying. Apparently he didn't like Aaron's driving and he wanted to drive instead.

This little gem of a picture was taken last night during family movie night.  I sat on Aaron's lap with the baby in my lap, and then the chair flipped backwards!  No worries, I don't take it as a sign I am too fat because I weigh less now than I did when I was 16...I guess we just need to not both lean back at the same time.

This was a scary moment- Peter pulled himself up in his crib for the first time! I guess it is time to lower the mattress! He is growing sooo fast!
