We just went to the doctor yesterday for his 6 month check-up. My little baby is LITTLE! He weighs 15.2 lbs and is in the 12th percentile for weight! Apparently this kid eats like his parents ( a LOT), and then doesn't gain weight. He is 26 inches long. ( He was 6lbs 3 oz at birth, and 19 inches, so he has come a long way.) We are doing Baby-Led Weaning (BLW) which I have explained before is that Baby eats whatever I eat and you skip baby food. Every morning I have a yogurt for breakfast, and Peter has gotten in the habit of eating my yogurt with me. I usually share a spoon with him, but one look at this face told me I was NOT getting my spoon back, and I needed to go and get another one.
Peter held the broccoli for me while I was cooking the chicken. He nibbled on it a few times, but he was too shy to do it in front of the camera. After the broccoli was cooked though- he DEMOLISHED it.
Here he is waiting so patiently for Mommy to cook lunch for him.
And here is the broccoli he demolished.
And after he finished eating that peace he started screaming and crying...all of which stopped once I handed him a new piece of broccoli.
Tonight for dinner we had PB&J's. (Can you tell I don't cook when Aaron is out of town?) Peter didn't mind our simple dinner. He LOVED it! He demolished his half of the sandwich.
We have started a garden! We had started seedlings in our house, then moved them outside, and now we are planting them in the ground. I had Peter sitting in the nice shade of his stroller watching me plant the seedlings. But anyone who knows Peter knows that watching me do something is not acceptable. He wanted to help. I brought him over, and this was my view looking down as we planted seedlings!
Things got interesting when he wanted to help while I was digging holes with the shovel. I had a baby in one arm, and a shovel in the other, and he was just as happy as could be as I awkwardly tried to multi-task. Later when we were planting again, he continually tried to eat handfuls of dirt, and then would cry when I wouldn't let him. Look at his new trick- he can sit up on his own ( for about 15 seconds before he falls over!).
While Aaron was gone, I surprised him by doing graffiti on our doors...Ok, really I painted 6 doors that we have been meaning to paint, but it wasn't until after I wrote this secret message.
Peter was AMAZING while I was painting doors! I couldn't believe who this kid was! Usually he will not let me put him down for anything, but while I was painting he was so patient with me. Probably because dad taught him to eat his feet when he is bored....
I said, "Peter, stop eating your feet! I will not take a picture and show dad that he has won this battle. I won't do it so there is no need to keep doing it." 5 minutes later he was STILL eating his feet, so I broke down and took a picture, and then ironically he stopped.
